Al-Azhar receives the works participating in the international caricature competition with the participation of the world's leading caricature artists

The Center for the Development of the Education of International and Foreign Students in Al-Azhar continues to receive the artworks participating in the “Al-Azhar International Caricature Competition” in its first session, which is held under the patronage of the Grand Imam Prof. Al-Azhar Undersecretary, on the sidelines of the first Al-Azhar International Caricature Forum.Dr. Nahla Al-Saeedi, General Supervisor of the Center for the Development of Education for International and Foreign Students in Al-Azhar, said that the center has received through the e-mail designated for the competition so far more than 300 artworks (caricatures), including works from the world's top caricaturists, in this competition, which comes as a starting point. From Al-Azhar’s global message, which aims to spread the culture of coexistence and peace and confront extremist and deviant ideology throughout its long history spanning more than a thousand years,Emphasizing that Islam does not fight the arts, but rather guides and directs them in the direction that promotes taste and humanity, and that religion and art are two main components of human culture throughout the ages. The Al-Azhar International Caricature Contest aims to emphasize that the religion of Islam calls for Peace, tolerance, human brotherhood and acceptance of the other.It does not call at all to violence, extremism and terrorism as depicted by the phenomenon of "Islamophobia" made, and to exploit the popular art of many people to correct the wrong image that some drew and attached to Islam, while spreading the principles of the historical document (the Document of Human Fraternity for World Peace and Coexistence),In addition to raising a generation from different countries of the world, with different cultures and ideologies, that defends moderate thought and tolerant human values ​​and principles through caricatures and full attention and care for international students at Al-Azhar, especially those who are creative in the art of drawing. The competition is divided into several sectionsThe first is the “caricature” section, which revolves around a number of values ​​and principles advocated by the “Document of Human Fraternity for World Peace and Coexistence.” Among its most important axes is belief in God and his worship, the danger of religious and national extremism, the importance of awakening a moderate religious sense, and justice based on mercy. The basis of a decent life, protection of places of worship, hateful terrorism is not a product of religion and others.As for the second section of the competition, it comes under the title “Portrait - non-caricatured portrait”, and this section of the competition revolves around a portrait drawing that brings together His Eminence the Grand Imam, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Vatican.The most important conditions of the competition are that the maximum participant should submit 3 drawings in each section of the competition, the work size should be 3A, and the work size should not exceed 2 MB, the work should be sent in JPG format (300 dpi), and the participant should send a short CV Do not exceed 3 lines, his address, contact methods, and his full bank account, and the artist's name, nationality, and country should be written on the submitted work.In addition, the portrait drawing is required to indicate the brotherhood and affection that characterize the meetings of the Grand Imam with His Holiness Pope Francis, knowing that the decisions of the jury are final and may not be objected to, and a certificate of participation will be delivered to all artists whose works have been accepted with the work of a booklet that includes the works The participating parties and a profile of each artist, and the screening and arbitration committees will exclude works that do not comply with the terms of the competition, or that do not respect the values ​​and principles.The winners will receive a certificate of thanks and appreciation from the Grand Imam, Sheikh of Al-Azhar for the winners of the first three places, and the first place winner will receive 1500 dollars, the second will receive 1000 dollars, and the third will receive 750 dollars.
